• We collect what we need to run the features you choose, and nothing to sell.
• We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
• Creditors see only what you choose to send them. We never share your income, budget, or other financial details with a creditor.
• You connect your bank and open your escrow account directly with those providers. Settle never sees or stores your bank login.
• You can see, download, correct, or ask us to delete your information.

Information you give us

• Account and contact details: name, email, phone number, mailing address, and your login credentials.
• Identity details: date of birth and, when you ask us to pull your credit reports, your Social Security number. You don’t need an SSN to create an account.
• Debt and account details: creditors, balances, account status, and other information you add or confirm.
• Your plan: income, budget, savings goals, and other figures you enter to build offers and track progress.
• Your activity: settlement requests, offers, counteroffers, acceptances, agreements, approvals, and electronic signatures.
• Communications: messages you send us and, only if you turn recording on, recordings of calls you make through Settle.

Information from other sources, with your permission

• Credit reports: account and credit information from the credit bureaus, obtained through our data providers when you authorize a soft credit pull. This doesn’t affect your score.
• Identity verification: confirmation from verification providers that you are who you say you are.
• Bank connection: when you link a bank, you connect directly with an independent bank-connection provider. We receive a secure token and the limited details needed to show balances and set up payments you approve. We never receive your bank login.
• Escrow and payments: status updates from the licensed escrow and money-transmission partner, such as whether funds are available or a payment you approved has been sent.
• Creditor responses: replies to the requests you send, such as acceptances, counters, and agreement terms.

Information collected automatically

Device and browser type, IP address, app version, log data, and how you use the website and app. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, keep the service secure, and understand which features are used. You can control cookies in your browser.

• To provide the features you choose: find your debts, build and send the requests you approve, track offers, agreements, and payments, and show your progress.
• To pass the instructions you approve to the escrow partner, bank-connection provider, and creditors.
• To verify your identity, prevent fraud, and keep accounts and the platform secure.
• To alert you to deadlines, pending actions, payments, and offer updates.
• To keep an accurate record of what you’ve authorized and signed.
• To provide support, fix problems, and improve Settle.
• To send marketing messages, only with your consent.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations and enforce our Terms.

We share information only as needed to provide Settle, as you direct, or as the law requires:

• Creditors: only the request details and authorizations you choose to send. A creditor may receive confirmation that funds are available for an offer, but never your income, budget, or other financial details.
• Providers you work with directly: the escrow and money-transmission partner, bank-connection provider, and insurer (for Settle+). Their own privacy policies also apply.
• Concierge providers: only if you choose to work with one, and only the information you agree to share.
• Service providers: companies that help us run Settle, such as hosting, credit data, identity verification, messaging, and customer support. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Legal and safety: when required by law, court order, or regulators, or to protect the rights and safety of users, Settle, or others.
• Business changes: if Settle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
• With your consent: in any other case, only when you tell us to.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it with other companies for their own marketing.

Federal law gives you rights over how financial companies share your personal financial information. Settle shares it only to provide the services you request, with providers who work on our behalf, and as the law requires. We don’t share it with outside companies for their marketing, so there’s nothing you need to opt out of.

• Turn marketing emails off with the unsubscribe link, and marketing texts off by replying STOP.
• Turn push notifications off in your device settings.
• Turn call recording on or off for each call, and delete recordings in your account.
• Disconnect your bank or other linked providers at any time.
• Review and withdraw consents in your account settings.

Wherever you live, you can ask to access, download, correct, or delete your personal information. Depending on your state, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with privacy laws, you may also have the right to know what categories of information we collect and share, to limit how we use sensitive information, and to appeal a decision we make about your request.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We’ll verify your identity before acting on it, and you can use an authorized agent. We’ll respond within the time the law requires. We won’t treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

If you ask us to delete your information, we’ll delete what we can and keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as records of agreements and payments.

We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, monitoring, and other safeguards to protect your information. Sensitive details such as your SSN are encrypted and limited to the people and systems that need them. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your login private and tell us right away if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.

We keep your information while your account is open and afterward for as long as the law requires, for example to keep records of agreements, payments, and consents. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

Settle is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Settle is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

We’ll post updates here and change the “Last updated” date. If we make a material change, we’ll tell you directly before it takes effect.
